Issa Rae Thinks Her Prosecco Goes Well with Super Bowl Snacks—But So Does Tax Pre

Issa Rae may just be the queen of manifestation.

From creating and starring in the hit series Insecure to expanding her influence in film, hospitality, and now the beverage industry, Rae has built an impressive empire. Her Hoorae Media is behind the comedy One of Them Days, currently in theaters, and she’s also ventured into hospitality with a coffee shop, a restaurant, and her own prosecco line, Viarae Prosecco.

But there was one thing she hadn’t done—until now.

This Sunday, Rae makes her Super Bowl commercial debut in a new spot for TurboTax.

A Bucket List Moment

“[Shooting a Super Bowl commercial] has always been on my bucket list,” Rae told CNN in a recent interview. “So it was exciting to be able to do.”

She was already familiar with TurboTax, having used it in the past, and she particularly loves the brand’s mobile app—something her commercial aims to highlight.

Game Day Vibes

When it comes to the big game, Rae is most excited about the halftime performance. Her favorite Super Bowl halftime show? Beyoncé’s iconic 2013 performance, where Destiny’s Child reunited on stage.

As for Super Bowl commercials, she had a diplomatic response:

“You’re about to get me in trouble because, like, I have to talk about the TurboTax of it, which is going to be my new favorite Super Bowl commercial,” she joked. “And I have to highlight what drew me to it to begin with—the fact that taxes are super daunting, and this shows you how your life can be easier if you let a TurboTax expert do your taxes for you.”

The Perfect Prosecco Pairing

Rae plans to enjoy the game from a friend’s couch, snacking and sipping on Viarae Prosecco.

And what pairs best with her bubbly?

“I would say seafood,” she said. “But if we’re talking snacks, a charcuterie board. Make it bougie.”
